The City of Clare is a great place to live. Located in the heart of Michigan's beautiful lower peninsula, Clare is just minutes away from anything you need. We're proud to say Clare is the home of Senator Debbie Stabenow, numerous state champion high school sports teams, and more Irish spirit than you can shake a shillelagh at, with a population of 3,173. Here are a few more points of pride for our community:
In Clare, it all starts with kids. Clare Public Schools, accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, is known throughout the state as a school of high caliber. With award winning programs such as Business Professionals of America, the Clare High School Symphonic Band, Reading Recovery, and a curriculum to match, you can be assured your child will receive a great education.
But it doesn't stop there! Did we mention fun? Currently, the City of Clare boasts seven parks, including a campground, nature trail, picnic island, skate park, playgrounds and more. Plus, the City is aggressively pursuing new parks and recreation opportunities. Recently, the City established the Clare Trailhead for the Michigan Rails to Trails, a paved rural path from Clare to Midland. In the recent past, we've also purchased and erected a new playscape at Shamrock Park, built a new fishing pier at Pettit Park, purchased and installed a new, state-of-the-art mobile skateboard facility, and are looking into opportunities for other park facilities throughout the City, including a possible new playground near First Street.
We in Clare also know when to get down to business. Home of StageRight, Filcon, Rogers Athletic, Adams Renosol LLC, Pilot Industries, Letherer Truss, Gateway Expediting, JD Metalworks, Northern Logistics, Mid Michigan Industries, and many small businesses, Clare is a town bustling with industry.
As an example, did you know a large percentage of the plastic wrap used in the United States comes from Filcon in Clare? Or that Clare's StageRight supplied the risers for last year's Grammy® Awards? Known as "Clare's little secret," these corporations have put Clare on the map.
Grab the credit cards! Clare's historic downtown area will leave you a satisfied shopper. Everything from home accessories to a recording studio, jewelry to lawn gnomes, can be found in Downtown Clare.
Just twenty miles north of the Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort, minutes away from Central Michigan University, and surrounded by wilderness, Clare is the perfect place to settle down. With many house and apartment opportunities, including waterfront property, Clare has the home you're looking for. So, whether you're in the market for a house by the lake, or plastic wrap by the microwave, Clare is where it all happens. "Up North" Begins Here!
